MiraDry Q & A

Who is miraDry for?

MiraDry is for the average, everyday person right off the street. The only patients who shouldn’t use miraDry are pregnant women. If you’re someone with insecurities about sweating and the undesirable odors that causes, Dr. Gin highly recommends undergoing a miraDry treatment. However, it’s also useful for someone with hyperhidrosis, a condition that causes excessive and unwarranted sweating.

All around, this treatment is perfect for patients who want to feel more confident under stressful situations and experience less embarrassment due to perspiration.

What is miraDry?

The miraDry procedure uses the only non-invasive technology that is FDA cleared and clinically proven to dramatically reduce underarm sweat without the use of chemicals, toxins or surgery. Because the sweat glands do not regenerate after the miraDry treatment, the results are long-lasting. You can expect a reduction in sweating immediately after the procedure, with very little or no downtime.

The state-of-the-art miraDry procedure is FDA-cleared to target underarm sweat and odor glands through the use of proprietary miraWave energy. Once these glands are affected, they can’t grow back, making underarm sweat and odor relief a thing of the past.

Do I need underarm sweat glands?

No. You have approximately two million sweat glands throughout your body, and your underarms only contain about 2% of those glands. Once your miraDry treatment is complete, you’ll experience the rewards of having dry underarms, and the rest of your body will continue to perspire normally.

What can I expect?

First they will numb the area with a local anesthetic before performing the miraDry treatment to ensure that you’re as comfortable as possible.

The entire procedure lasts for about an hour. Afterward, you may experience mild swelling, soreness, tingling, or numbness in the treated area; these sensations typically subside within a few days.

You can expect a reduction in sweating immediately after the procedure, with very little or no downtime.

Because your sweat glands won’t regenerate after the treatment, miraDry results are long-lasting.
